Soludo Lauds Buhari For Completing Second Niger Bridge

By Chris Udochukwu Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo on Friday praised President Muhammadu Buhari’s delivery of the Second Niger Bridge, a project he says the South-East region is grateful for. The Second Niger Bridge was commissioned earlier in the week after years of delay. It is a major route linking the South-East and the South-South. Days after the commissioning, Soludo, who leads Anambra State – where the project is situated (with Delta State also linked), lauded the Buhari government for keeping to its promise of finishing the bridge named after the President. “I had to make efforts to be there personally for the commissioning of that project. It is a major game-changer,” he said on Channels Television’s Politics Today. “It is a very important project and we are eternally grateful to President Buhari for delivering on that agenda,” Soludo added. Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted angrily to Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo’s diatribe against Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate. Soludo had in a lengthy letter, ruled Obi out of the presidential race, declaring that the LP candidate was merely catching a cruise. As Governor Charles Soludo’s attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, continues to reverberate, Ozonna Soludo has differed with his father’s stance, saying Obi is the best candidate. Ozonna, Governor Soludo’s son, said he does not want to be dragged into politics, but prefers Obi to other candidates. The 28-year-old UK-based artiste disclosed this in a comment on Facebook in response to a social media post criticizing his father for opposing Obi’s presidential ambition. Recall that Governor Soludo had attacked Obi in a lengthy essay on Monday, claiming that he would not win the presidential election. While also throwing shades at Obi’s claim of making huge savings for Anambra State during his tenure, Soludo also said that governments exist to save lives and not to save money. Drama As Anambra Govt Seals Off 24 Banks, Hotels Over Taxes, Levies

The Government of Anambra State has sealed off several establishments. The government sealed off no fewer than 25 banks and hotels operating within the state capital, Awka, for failure to pay their taxes and levies to the state. The facilities were sealed by the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) over the weekend. It was gathered that levies were mainly those of sanitation, business premises and sundry government taxes. Head of the team and desk officer in charge of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) in the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. James-Morgan Ezeodili, said the enforcement was made following a court order on 11th August 2022 to seal off the businesses. “This is because of their refusal or failure to appear in court, after being served with writ of summons, as they refused to pay stipulated levies to state government. “The exercise (sealing of businesses) was part of the state government’s resolve to boost its revenue, and to ensure that the environment was clean by removal of wastes across the roads and streets in the state.” Some of …
