Accra, (PRECISE POST) – The 4th edition of the GJ Democracy Dialogue was held today in Accra, hosted by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (@GEJFoundation) in collaboration with the Government of Ghana.
The event themed “Why Democracies Die” brought together high-level dignitaries, thought leaders, and policymakers from across Africa to reflect on the current state and future of democracy on the continent.
Jonathan, who announced this on his verified X account on Wednesday, highlighted that Participants engaged in deep and wide-ranging discussions on the role of democracy in nation-building and the growing challenges threatening democratic institutions across Africa.
The dialogue highlighted the need for stronger democratic governance, inclusive leadership, and citizen participation as pillars for achieving peace, justice, and prosperity.
Former Nigerian President and Founder of the Foundation, H.E. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, expressed gratitude to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, and the Government of Ghana for their continued partnership. He also acknowledged the impactful contributions of H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the ECOWAS Commission Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, H.E. Kadre Désiré Ouédraogo, and other distinguished participants.
“The insightful conversations offered lessons and pathways toward building peaceful, just, and democratic nations,” Dr. Jonathan stated. “Together, let us commit to safeguarding democracy as the surest path to peace, security, and prosperity across Africa.”
