ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has extended Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world, while calling on the government to fulfil its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.
In a statement issued by his media office in Abuja on Paul Ibe’s X handle Sunday morning, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress described Easter as a season of solemn reflection, sacrifice, and divine love.
He urged Christians to use the period for introspection, repentance, and renewal of hope, emphasising the importance of embodying the values demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
“Atiku encourages all Christians to emulate the selflessness, forgiveness, and compassion of Jesus Christ in their daily lives. The essence of Easter is sacrifice and love. We must seize this opportunity to show genuine love and compassion to one another,” the statement read.
The former Vice President also reminded the government of its primary duty under the Constitution to ensure the security and welfare of all citizens and residents, stressing the need to create an enabling environment where Nigerians can thrive irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
He concluded by wishing Christian families a happy, peaceful, and joyous Easter celebration.
