PORT HARCOURT- The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Rivers says it has deployed 1,019 personnel across the state to ensure road safety during the Easter celebration.
The Acting Sector Commander, Iheanachor Obele made the disclosure in a statement by the Public Education Officer, Doris Ebor on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
Obele further said that special patrol teams would operate at strategic routes in the state during the period
“We have deployed 15 patrol vans, one heavy-duty tow truck and 400 special marshals for the patrol.
“The arrangements put in place will ensure free traffic flow and safe travels during the Christian celebration,” he said.
He said that the patrol was in line with the corps statutory responsibility to ensure safe roads and seamless interstate travels.
The sector commander expressed concerns over the spate of reckless driving by motorists in the state, especially youths.
“It has become common in Port Harcourt City to see youths speeding in motorcades, this development has sometimes led to fatal crashes,” he said.
He urged road users to report traffic rules violators through the FRSC toll-free line 122 or 0700.
The FRSC official called for the collaboration of sister agencies during the celebration to ensure effective service delivery.(NAN)
