EDO 2024 IN FOCUS As Hon. Dennis Idahosa From Edo South Picks APC Ticket

In 2016 Gubernatorial election, Edo South produced 48.37% of the total votes, Edo North had 32.23%, while Central had 19.4%. At the 2020 gubernatorial election, Edo South contributed 46.50% of total votes, Edo North produced 35.50%, while Edo Central delivered 18% of the total votes. In Edo politics, Adams Oshiomole is in strong command of Edo North, Governor Godwin Obaseki is from Edo South, while Philip Shaibu the Deputy Governor is also from the North. Oshiomole is backing Idahosa, Obaseki is backing Asue, while Philip Shaibu is running his race (rumors are rife that he’s planning to switch party). While the Central is expected to come out en-mass for Barr. Asue Ighodalo, there is a challenge from the South and North, especially within the PDP. Edo 2024: APC To Pick Guber Candidate Feb 17, Pegs Form At N50m

By Chris Udochukwu As politicking for the successor of Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thickens, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable and schedule of activities for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State. The APC timetable released on Monday was signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Argungu. According to the party, the sale of nominations, expression of interest and delegates forms for contestants will begin on January 10 and end on January 29, 2024, while primary election is slated for February 17, 2024. The APC pegged the price for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at N10m and N40m respectively. The party said female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are to pay for Expression of Interest while the Nomination Form is free. “Youths from 25 to 40 years are to purchase Expression of Interest forms with a 50% discount on Nomination Forms,” the APC stated. Edo 2024: Rep pledges to train 100,000 youths in tech, if elected governor

BENIN- Rep. Dennis Idahosa (APC-Ovia) has pledged to empower no fewer than 100,000 youths in Edo with technological skills, if elected governor. Idahosa declared his intention to contest in the 2024 Edo governorship race at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Benin on Friday. The lawmaker said he would accomplish the feat via collaboration with both the Federal Government and international partners. “If you notice, India is doing telemarketing for most of the American companies. I do not see anything wrong with us having such opportunities for our youths in Nigeria and especially in Edo,” he said. Speaking to journalists after his declaration, Idahosa, who is representing Ovia Federal Constituency, said youths would also be trained in the area of renewable energy. “The youth is the reason for my involvement in elections and core reason for running for governorship because the youths constitute about 70 per cent of electorate in Edo,” said the APC governorship aspirant.
