MAKURDI (PRECISE POST) — Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has described the contributions of teachers to the development of the state as invaluable, assuring them of his administration’s continued support and commitment to improving the education sector.
Alia stated this in a message to teachers across the state to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day on Monday, the statement released on the official X handle of Benue State Government signed by Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State said.
The Governor said the theme of this year’s celebration, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” underscored the enduring role of teachers in building generations and shaping the future of communities and nations.
According to him, his administration’s recognition and support for teachers remain central to achieving meaningful progress in the state’s education sector.
Alia stressed that supporting teachers must go beyond rhetoric, saying practical measures must be put in place to enable them to perform their duties with confidence and dignity.
He identified the recruitment of teachers into public schools and the renovation of schools across the state as some of the measures taken by his administration to improve teaching and learning conditions.
The Governor said improving school infrastructure while strengthening the teaching workforce demonstrated his government’s commitment to ensuring that children across Benue have access to a more conducive learning environment.
He assured teachers that education would remain a major priority of his administration, noting that the quality of education provided today would directly determine the human capital development and opportunities available to the next generation of Benue citizens.
While appreciating teachers for their dedication and sacrifices, Alia urged them to remain committed to their profession and continue nurturing the minds, talents and potentials of young people across the state.
