GUSAU- The Zamfara government on Monday denied taking a N14.2 billion loan as indicated in a report by the Debt Management Office (DMO). A statement issued in Gusau on Monday by Sulaiman Idris, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, debunked the claim it described as false. “This is to clarify the DMO report which said that the Zamfara state government borrowed N14.26 billion naira. “The Zamfara government has never applied for loan or approached the State Assembly or National Assembly with such request,” Idris said. 10,000 Zamfara orphans to eat 66 cows during Ramadan, Eid-el-Fitr: Ex-Governor Yari

ZAMFARA- Ex-Governor Abdul’aziz Yari has donated 66 cows to 10,000 orphans for Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Chairman of the lawmaker’s Orphans’ Welfare Committee, Sanusi Liman-DanAlhaji, disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Tuesday. The ex-governor now represents Zamfara West senatorial district in the National Assembly. Mr Liman-DanAlhaji said 10,000 orphans across the 19 emirates of the state were selected to benefit from the gesture. “This is part of Sen. Yari’s Ramadan orphans’ welfare project, aimed at assisting the needy to undertake Ramadan fasting and celebrate Sallah comfortably. “This is in addition to the assorted food items and clothing materials recently distributed to the orphans under this committee. “A total of 500 orphans were selected from each of the 18 emirates across the state, while in Gusau, 1,000 orphans would benefit from the gesture. Sixty-six cows are to be distributed to the 10,000 beneficiaries across the state,” he said. Zamfara bread bakers commence strike

ZAMFARA- Zamfara State chapter of the Master Bakers Association, MBA, has ordered its members to stop production of bread until it settles with the State Government over the ban on motorcycles carrying breads. The Association refuted the claim that the motorcycle riders carrying loaves of bread were supplying bread to bandits in the forests. The State Government had recently banned any motorcycle carrying loaves of bread, saying that they were supplying the bread to bandits operating in the State. The Government also banned the sale of petroleum in cans, pointing out that the breads and cans of fuel were encouraging the terrorists to unleash terror attacks on residents. Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the State Financial Secretary of the Association, Mallam Habibu explained that the union would not resume production of bread until it settled the matter with the State Government. “We have been holding a series of meetings with the State Government to resolve the issue. Terrorists kill seven, abduct 20 in Zamfara

No fewer than seven people have been killed, while about 20 others were abducted by terrorists in an evening attack on Nasarawa Godel, in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday. Several security operatives dead after fatal ambush by bandits in Zamfara state

ZAMFARA- A Joint Task Force comprising Police Mobile Force personnel and Soldiers fell into an ambush by bandits in Zamfara State, resulting in a deadly attack and the loss of multiple lives. The ambush occurred on January 6, 2023, between Danjigba and Kunci Kargo locations of Sector 7 of Operation Hadarin Daji. The bandits launched a surprise assault on the operatives killing all personnel inside a targeted gun truck were killed during the attack and seizing rifles and an AA Rifle. Troops of the military joint taskforce, Operation Haderin Daji (OPHD), have neutralized 10 terrorists in Katsina and Zamfara states. GUSAU- The Zamfara unit of the National Cash Transfer Programme says it has started investigation into alleged non-payment of more than 10,000 cash transfer beneficiaries in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state. More than 10,000 beneficiaries from 17 communities in the local government area staged a protest on Thursday over alleged non-payment of their benefits since their enrolment in 2018. ABUJA- The Defence Headquarters says troops have eliminated more than 100 terrorists in air interdictions carried out on the border between Niger and Zamfara states. The director, defence media operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made this known on Thursday in Abuja while giving an update on military operations across the country in the last one week.
