Taraba: NYSC Sends Forth Retired Staff In Style

By Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Saturday hold a send forth party for two of her staff who retired in the last one month.

The State Coordinator of the Corps Mr Anthony Nzoka said that the gesture is intended to not only celebrate the several years of service and harmonious working relationship with the retiring staff, but also a motivation to other staff knowing that they too will one day be celebrated.

The retiring staff are Mr Ben Dominic and Mrs Ladi Gambo who have worked in several states across the country before their transfer to Taraba State where they complete their service period.

Nzoka described the retirees as dedicated staff who have contributed immensely to the success of the scheme in the state and the country at large.

“Today’s celebration comes with mixed feelings. It is a happy moment because we are celebrating our colleagues who have completed this journey in good health and with good records and so are going to continue with the next phase of their lives. It is what we all pray for.

“On the flip side of it, we are not so happy because we are saying goodbye to our dear colleagues, and in as much as we would still be in touch with them, we are certainly going to miss those special moments at the office. I urge you to know that this is your office even in retirement and the forest are always open to you.

“It is good that you both take a good rest. You deserve it after so many years of meritorious service to your country. But remember that this is only retirement. It does not mean that you are tired. Take a rest and then get back on your feet quickly and start doing something. It can be a very lonely phase of life if you do not navigate it well. Make new friends, sustain old friends and make concerted efforts to network and start a fruitful venture anywhere you may reside” Nzoka advised.

Some of the staff who spoke described the duo of Mr Dominic and Mrs Gambo as very friendly, dedicated and disciplined colleagues who handled their schedules committed enthusiasm.

Mr Ben Dominic in his remarks appreciated the State Coordinator of the Corps Mr Nzoka and the staff for the cordial working relationship and for organising the send forth in their honor.

He said “it is very fulfilling that at the end of the day, I can seat back and say that I went, I saw and I conquered. I do not take this for granted and that is why I am most grateful to Almighty God for the grace. I am also very grateful to NYSC generally and the Taraba State family in particular. Indeed, there is no better place I would have preferred to land. We are humbled by your kind words and this honour to host us before we leave to meet our families. We are grateful”.

Mrs Gambo on her part urge the staff to stay focus and dedicated to duty as everything that has a beginning has an end, and prayed that they will all retire in good health to enjoy the much needed company of their loved ones.

Precise Post reports that the Staff used the opportunity to appreciate the State Coordinator for providing desired and smart leadership to the staff, corps members and other critical partners in the State and used the opportunity to share ideas on how best to discharge some salient duties in the Secretariat.
