ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sadness over the death of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Tinubu, in a condolence message posted on his official X handle on Monday, described the deceased as a lifelong companion to President Samia and a pillar of her family.
The President said he understood the magnitude of the loss to the Tanzanian leader, her children and the wider Hassan family, noting that Hafidh stood by his wife for almost five decades throughout her years of service to Tanzania.
“I know what this loss means to President Samia and her family. She has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and the family one of its pillars,” Tinubu said.
He extended his condolences to President Samia, her children, the Hassan family and the people of Tanzania on behalf of the Nigerian government, people and his family.
Tinubu said the death had come at a moment when the bonds between African countries mattered even more, stressing that Nigeria mourned with Tanzania and stood firmly with President Samia and her family in their hour of grief.
“At moments such as this, the bonds that unite us as Africans matter even more. Nigeria mourns with Tanzania and stands with President Samia and her family in this hour of grief,” he said.
The Nigerian leader prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the deceased eternal rest and give President Samia and her family the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan was the husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Tanzania’s first female president.
