True Aim Of Nigerian Civil War Was Crude Oil – Omirhobo

Chief Malcolm Omirhobo has said that the true objective of the Nigerian Civil War was not to unite the country but to subjugate the Igbos, steal crude oil under their control in the then Eastern Region dominated by the Igbos and put it in control of the North and pleasure of Britain.

The Barrister who took to his X account to buttress his position asked: “Are we united today 54 years after fighting the Oil war called the Nigerian/Biafra war? The answer is NO; as you can see, we are at each other’s throats all the time. We are divided more than ever.

Recall that this is coming against the backdrop of the 90th birthday celebration of General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) who was the Head of state of Nigeria during three years of the civil war.

His remarks reads in part:

“To hell with unity ! Are we united today 54 years after fighting the Oil war called the Nigerian/ Biafra war ? The answer is NO, as you can see we are at each others throat all the time . We are divided more than ever .

“Gowon was a coward and clueless opportunist , after he and other Northern military men have killed their Igbo colleagues in the barracks and several Igbo civilians for no just cause across the country, in fear , Gowon moved the Central bank to the North and he and his co travellers were set to flee to the North under the Code Araba with which the North was ready to secede .

“Guess what ? , Britain our colonial master , called Gown back and asked him ” you have all loaf why settle for half ” then Gowon started talking about unity when in actual fact it was the crude oil that was his objective . Today all the Oil well in Nigeria are owned by the North who do not have a single drop of crude oil , they occupy all top and plum positions in NNPC while the rest struggle for the crumb.”

Precise Post recalls that Omirhobo yesterday emphasized that it is not true that South-East desire to secede that led to the Nigeria/Biafra War but rather it was Gowon’s poor and weak leadership style, colonial mentality, youthful exuberance and immaturity that led to the Nigerian/Biafran war.

“Gowon refused, failed and/or neglected to stop the senseless killing of the Igbos and their look alikes through out Nigeria especially in the North by civilians and members of the armed forces. He refused to provide funds to the Eastern Region Government to cater for the injured and displaced Igbos that ran to their home land for safety from all parts of Nigeria. Gowon without any good reason refused the Aburi Accord. For the records the Igbo fought in self defence,” he noted.
