Abuja (Precise Post) – National Vice Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Southeast Zone, Chief Ali Odefa has berated the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi over his abusive remarks of late against PDP leaders, saying it showcases his confusion and frustration after embarking on lone defection.
Chief Odefa stated this on Thursday in a statement he personally signed and made available to Precise Post.
The statement reads in full:
DAVID UMAHI AND HIS DESIRE TO DANCE NAKED IN THE MARKET SQUARE
My attention has been drawn to an audio presentation of Mr. David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State during the courtesy call on him by the AIG Zone Nine, Calabar, where he made series of uncomplimentary statements about my person and other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ebonyi State.
Mr. David Umahi has developed the habit of name-calling and tagging of leaders of the PDP thinking that by doing so he would pitch the party leaders against federal security agencies and possibly incarcerate and silence them.
It is very disheartening that a man who occupies such a high office as that of the Governor of a State has such uncultured, short temperament and uncouth mouth and has descended so low that pedestrian and infantile mannerisms have now been elevated to state craft in Ebonyi State.
It is has now become very glaring that Mr. David Umahi lacks the decorum maturity and panache required of democratic leaders, the man is simply unfit to hold the office of a Ward Councilor. Mr. Umahi confuses the position of governorship to medieval dynasties where emperor hold sway unchallenged-day dreams.
This is a democracy where power belongs to the people, where choices are rights and where people can determine who leads them. More so, this is a democracy where tenures are constitutionally limited, especially to ensure that characters like Mr. Umahi do not reinvent themselves.
I am not surprised that Mr. Umahi has resorted to this pedestrian tactics where he would spend his time going through the social media and issuing threats and orders; I have always known him to be petty and largely uncivilized. It is unthinkable that a governor of a state will call on security agents to pounce on citizens, seize their phones and charge them to court for holding different opinion from that of the government as if we are still in the stone age!
Mr. Umahi’s outburst and subsequent resort to use of abusive and uncomplimentary remarks on the leaders of the PDP does not only showcase the confusion in which he is currently swimming in, but confirms the assertion of Senator Dino Melaye that the governor is obviously suffering from the arthritis of the brain!
Notwithstanding the shallow and pettiness of Mr. Umahi’s vituperations on my person, let me use this opportunity to state some obvious fact that Mr. Umahi may be running away from.
It is important that Mr. Umahi should be reminded that my antecedent is very clearly impeccable that not even his can compete, even though, matters of antecedent are self-evident and never in contention.
I am from a well known family with a history of honour and integrity, Mr. Umahi knows better that my family history is not such that can be ridiculed. My silence over the antecedent of Mr. Umahi is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of respect for Ebonyi People.
Maybe Mr. Umahi should start telling people about his own family background, perhaps Ndi Ebonyi will be availed the opportunity of understanding where this evil rain of a government started to beat them.
Ever since Mr. David Umahi embarked on his lone defection to the All Progressive Congress (APC), he seem to have lost something dear to him and have since started talking from all corners of his mouth.
The Ebonyi public should note that Mr. Umahi has no monopoly of raining invectives on others, we are merely being restrained by our cultured upbringing and personal decision to maintain decorum.
However, with the current uncontrolled turn of event where Mr. Umahi has lost all senses of decorum and good manners, we may no longer have to hold our peace.
Perhaps in the best interest of Ndi Ebonyi, time may have come for us to give Ebonyians a tip of what the man who occupies the high office of the Governor of Ebonyi State is really is.
It is time for Mr. Umahi to caution himself and treat his perennial diarrhea of the mouth or we can as well go to the market square and beat the drum for him.
Finally, Mr. Umahi should come to the reality that he has no monopoly of these his dry theatrics.
Signed:
Chief Ali Odefa
National Vice Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Southeast Zone
