Umeahi Becomes 6th Governor to Test Positive for COVID-19

Abakaliki (Precise Post) – Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi is now the 6th governor to test positive for COVID-19

Umeahi on Saturday said he has tested positive for coronavirus, adding that some of his close aides also tested positive for the virus.

Umahi further disclosed that, presently, they are not showing any symptoms but have since gone into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The Governor directed the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over the frontline coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic.

Umahi appealed to the people of Ebonyi state to take the NCDC protocols more seriously while stating that he’s working from home and will conduct all meetings virtually.

Precise Post recall that other state governors that have tested positive to the novel virus and recovered are: Kaduna state governor, Nasir El’rufai; Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde

Others who tested positive recently and are in isolation centres receiving treatment are: Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna; Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, and Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo have all tested positive and recovered from the virus weeks ago.
