Van Nistelrooy Unshaken by Leicester’s Struggles, Expresses Faith in Players

Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy insists he is not worried about being sacked as he works to end a seven-game losing streak that has left the club in the Premier League relegation zone.

Van Nistelrooy earned four points from his first two games in charge after replacing Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium in early December.

However, his strong start quickly unravelled, and the Foxes now sit second from bottom in the league table, two points away from safety ahead of their match against Tottenham on Sunday.

The Dutchman, a former star striker for Manchester United and Real Madrid, said: “I am focused on getting this team out of the situation we’re in, and that is my only concern.

“Every day, I work with the players and everyone at Leicester to get the best out of this squad.

“In difficult times, you need to be tough, strong, and show character. You must persist, work hard, and remain committed.

“I feel we are united and committed as a group. That spirit is visible on the pitch. Yes, we’ve been losing, but I can see a team with spirit and fight. We’ll keep going, and this run will end.”

Leicester have only signed French defender Woyo Coulibaly during the current transfer window. Van Nistelrooy confirmed that there was “no news” on further additions so far.

The former Manchester United striker, who also had a brief spell as the club’s interim manager earlier this season, said Leicester are still exploring ways to strengthen the team.

“I believe in the players I have now, but we are also looking at options to strengthen the squad,” he said.

“It’s clear what the possibilities are and what they’re not. We are still in that process, but at the moment, there’s no news.”
