ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of African Alliance Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has launched a blistering attack on the United Nations (UN), describing the global body as compromised, irrelevant and incapable of protecting humanity from abuse of power.
In his remarks released on his X handle on Saturday while reacting to alleged regime-change efforts by the United States under President Donald Trump in Venezuela, Sowore accused the UN of failing to restrain unilateral aggression, war crimes and abuses of power.
He argued that the organisation has degenerated into what he termed a “ceremonial tea party,” unable to confront global injustice.
Sowore cited what he described as the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife as further evidence of the UN’s institutional weakness and moral failure, insisting that the body has lost its credibility by tolerating the unchecked ambition and dominance of powerful world leaders.
According to him, any institution that cannot protect humanity from “ego, bloodlust and tyranny” has forfeited its legitimacy and right to exist.
Sowore therefore called for the dissolution of the United Nations and urged the creation of a new, credible coalition of nation-states that would genuinely serve humanity, uphold justice and prevent tyranny, rather than legitimise it.
