Abuja (Precise Post) – Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the military mutiny that ousted the Burkina Faso leader, advising that we must work hard to preserve our democracy and way of life.
Recall that Lt. Colonel Paul Henri Damiba-led coup overthrew Kabore from office and incaserated him.
This is the leader of the military mutiny in Burkina Faso.
His name is Lt. Colonel Paul Henri Damiba and he will most likely emerge as the new Head of State of his country.
This is a big blow to democracy.
Our sub-region has experienced 5 coups in the last two years.
In 4 of them, namely Sudan, Mali, Chad and Burkina Faso, those coups were successful.
In one of them, namely Niger Republic, it was not successful.
All five of these countries are close to our borders and in some cases we actually share borders with them.
Coups d’etats are unacceptable and they represent a set back and a failure in our collective affairs.
We must work hard to preserve our democracy and way of…
..life and we must pray for Nigeria and call on the name of the Lord to defend our borders.
They are retrograde in nature, they are inherently divisive and we must do all we can to resist and deter them.
Whatever our differences may be we can at least all agree on that…
…I wholeheartedly condemn the coup in Burkina Faso, I call for the restoration of democracy and civil rule in that country and I pray that we do not see any more coups on the African continent.
