Why I Insisted To Be Addressed By My Father’s Name – Singer, Burna Boy’s Mother Reveals

World-famous Nigerian superstar singer, Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu, has made a revelation about herself.

She revealed why she insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname.

Bose, who doubles as her son’s manager, made this revelation at a dinner at Freedom Park on Lagos Island on Monday, January 16, to commemorate media, art, and culture executive Jahman Anikulapo’s 60th birthday.

According to Bose, she insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname because she didn’t want to be confused with another Idonije.

She attended the event with her husband, Samuel, and her father, Benson Idonije.

While introducing Bose, the co-host of the dinner, Pamela Udoka, who was a year ahead of Bose Ogulu in secondary school, begged the former’s husband to allow her to be referred to as Bose Benson-Idonije, explaining that Bose didn’t like being addressed as Bose Idonije but insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname back in secondary school.

Later, Bose explained that she insisted people called her Bose Benson-Idonije before she got married because she didn’t want to be mistaken for another Idonije.
