ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – President Bola Tinubu has departed Brasília for Abuja after a productive state visit aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Brazil.
The presidential jet took off from the Air Force Base at Brasília International Airport at 12:57 p.m. (local time), concluding a three-day visit that featured high-level engagements and the signing of key agreements, the statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) Bayo Onanuga released on his handle on Wednesday said.
Present at the airport to bid farewell to President Tinubu were Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, and Ambassador Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, Brazil’s envoy to Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior government officials were also in attendance. A guard of honour, led by Colonel Cel Nicolas, marked the brief departure ceremony.
President Tinubu arrived in Brazil on Monday, August 25, and was welcomed with full military honours at the Palácio do Planalto.
During his visit, he held bilateral talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and other senior Brazilian officials.
The diplomatic engagement yielded the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between both nations. These MoUs span critical sectors, including aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture, areas pivotal to Nigeria’s development agenda.
The visit is part of President Tinubu’s broader push to strengthen Nigeria’s global partnerships and attract foreign cooperation in priority sectors.
