ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Poised to mark a turning point in the country’s aviation industry, Nigeria’s leading airline, Air Peace, has officially commenced the construction of a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Lagos.

he groundbreaking ceremony, held today (Wednesday), signaled the start of work on the 34,000-square-meter complex, which the airline described as a “new chapter in Nigeria’s aviation story.
Once completed, the facility is expected to drastically reduce capital flight by offering comprehensive aircraft maintenance services locally, eliminating the need for airlines to send their fleets abroad for routine checks and repairs.
Designed to meet world-class standards, the MRO hub is set to serve not only Air Peace’s growing fleet but also those of other domestic and international carriers operating across the continent. The company emphasized that the facility will play a critical role in positioning Nigeria as Africa’s leading destination for aviation maintenance and technical support.
“This landmark project is more than just infrastructure; it’s a bold statement about Nigeria’s readiness to lead in aviation innovation, self-sufficiency, and regional leadership,” Air Peace stated in its announcement.
The airline further highlighted that the MRO facility would create high-skilled jobs, build local capacity, and strengthen the aviation value chain in Nigeria, making the country a strategic player in global air transport operations.
As Air Peace continues its expansion both locally and internationally, the MRO facility represents a major investment in sustainability, cost efficiency, and national pride.
