ABUJA (PRECISE POST) — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency in the 2027 election, Hon. Daniel Oné Ejigbo, has commended security agencies and local vigilantes for the arrest of a suspected kidnapping syndicate terrorising communities in Kogi East.
Ejigbo praised the Kogi State Government, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army and local vigilantes for their roles in the operation, describing the arrests as a significant step towards restoring security in the area.
The NDC candidate said residents had for months raised concerns over the activities of kidnappers in the region, adding that the latest arrests demonstrated the importance of sustained public pressure and security action.
“For months we have cried out. Now we are seeing action and confessions are coming out. This is what happens when we refuse to keep quiet,” he said.
Ejigbo, however, urged the security agencies not to stop at the arrest of the suspected kidnappers, but to intensify investigations to identify and apprehend those allegedly sponsoring and financing the criminal network.
He called on the authorities to ensure that all those found culpable are prosecuted and made to face the full weight of the law.
The Bassa/Dekina candidate also stressed the need for collective responsibility in tackling insecurity, urging residents and relevant stakeholders to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
“Security is our collective duty. Kudos to everyone who made this possible. Bassa/Dekina, Kogi State and Nigeria must be safe again!” Ejigbo said.
