Abuja (Precise Post) – President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday sent a clear note of warning to those behind insurgency, warning that his government would never bow to Boko Haram terrorists and other criminal elements threatening the peace and security of the country.

Buhari, who reiterated this resolve in Abuja when he commissioned the rebuilt United Nations ( UN) building, said his government would do everything possible to remain resilient in the face of any act of terrorism.

It would be recalled that the United Nations building in Abuja was one of the public facilities that were bombed by Boko Haram terrorists on August 26, 2011.

The President, who was represented by the Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, said that ” Nigeria will not be cowed but will remain resilient in the face of acts of terrorism designed to break our spirit.”

He also said that rebuilding and commissioning of the building was a demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to global fight against terrorism.

He noted that the UN over the years has confronted global issues such as international conflicts, health and humanitarian matters, climate change and environmental degradation, with positive results around the world.

While congratulating the UN for the celebration of the 2019 UN Day, the President pledged the country’s commitment to serving as a good host to the UN family and encouraged the staff to build bonds of friendship with locals that will help strengthen the growing sense of a loving community outside the UN environment.

Earlier in his remarks, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Edward Kallon, commended the President and people of Nigeria for the unwavering support for the UN and commitment to the rebuilding of the bombed UN house.

He also stressed that the rebuilding of the house was a demonstration of Nigeria’s resolve to tackle terrorism and refusal to be bowed by it.
