Abuja (Precise Post) – The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general election and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed delight over the release of 18 passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA).
Atiku who expressed his joy via his twitter handle in reaction to the news of their release, thanked all who worked in synergy towards their release.” adding that he is anxiously looking forward to the freedom of #KagaraStudents too.
His tweet reads:
“I am happy with the release of Passengers on a Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) bus who were abducted. I am grateful to all who worked in synergy towards their release.”
“However, we need to do much better in ensuring we don’t perpetually travel this road again. I’m anxiously looking forward to the freedom of #KagaraStudents too.”
Precise Post recalls that the passengers were on February 14 abducted by bandits in Kundu village near Zungeru in the Yakila District of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state.
Further recall that the Niger State government on Sunday said it has secured the release of the abducted passengers of the state Transport Authority (NSTA).
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor of Niger State, Mary Noel-Berje, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Minna, the state capital.
According to the statement, no fewer than 18 passengers on the NSTA bus were on February 14 abducted by bandits in Kundu village near Zungeru in the Yakila District of Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
The passengers were said to be heading to Minna from Kotangora when the incident happened.
Few days after the incident, this newspaper also reported the abduction of some students and staff of Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, by bandits.
As of the time of filing this report, none of the abductees has been freed though the state government in collaboration with the federal government said it was working hard to secure the release of the students
