The late human rights activist, Ariyo Dare Atoye has been described as one of the heroes of Nigerian democracy..
The Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, (LPPCC) Dr Yunusa Tanko in a press statemen he personally signed further described Atoye as a great man and a voice for the voiceless.
Dr Yunusa noted that it was regrettable that despite fighting for the actualization of the Electoral Act, Ariyo did not live to witness its compliance.
Atoye who was a leading civil society advocate died of a protracted cancer. He fought strongly to ensure that the nation’s nascent democracy survived.
“Posterity will also be fair to him for his efforts in helping to actualize the Electoral Act and in protecting our hard earned democracy,” he said.
“My heart goes to the family, the government and the entire people of Ekiti state.; May the good Lord console us all.”
