Boluwatife Balogun, the first son of global music superstar Wizkid, has officially announced his entry into the music scene, sparking massive excitement online.
The 14-year-old took to his Instagram page to share a video of himself in the studio, passionately singing to a track believed to be his debut single
The video, titled “Champion’s Arrival,” has already gone viral, racking up over 168,000 likes and 15,000 comments within hours of posting.

Former Kwara lawmaker and APC chieftain, Hon. Saheed Popoola, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with his supporters in Offa, citing loss of fairness and justice within the ruling party.
Popoola, who represented the Ojomu/Balogun constituency, said he joined the PDP after “deep reflection” on the direction of the APC.
“I was the first person to contest under the APC platform in 2013. We started the APC with a vision of justice and prosperity, but over time, the party lost its soul. Loyalty became to individuals, not the people,” he said.
He accused Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of poor governance, saying, “We have never seen banditry in Kwara since its creation in 1967 but the current governor does not understand governance.”
He also said the ideals of the 2019 struggle that brought the APC to power had been abandoned.
The party won’t miss Saheed Popoola because his presence was never felt. He left long before the last election,” APC spokesperson Waheed Babatunde said, adding that Offa “will remain progressive and support Governor Abdulrazaq in 2027.”
However, the APC dismissed the defection as insignificant.

The gunman accused of killing Japan’s former prime minister Shinzo Abe pled guilty Tuesday, three years after the assassination in broad daylight shocked the world.
The slaying forced a reckoning in a country with little experience of gun violence, and ignited scrutiny of alleged ties between.
prominent conservative lawmakers and a secretive sect, the Unification Church.
Everything is true,” Tetsuya Yamagami said at a court in the western city of Nara, admitting murder of the country’s longest-serving leader in July 2022.
The 45-year-old was led into the room by four security officials.
When the judge asked him to state his name, Yamagami, who was wearing a black T-shirt and had his long hair tied at the back, replied in a barely audible voice.
However, his lawyer said they would contest certain charges including violations of arms control laws for allegedly using a handmade weapon.
Yamagami’s trial had been a long time coming after the discovery of a suspicious item — later found to be harmless — caused its last-minute cancellation and the evacuation of the Nara court building in 2023.
One issue central to the case was whether extenuating circumstances applied due to “religious abuse” in Yamagami’s childhood stemming from
his mother’s extreme devotion to the Unification Church, according to local media reports.
Yamagami reportedly resented Abe for his perceived ties to the Church, which was established in South Korea in 1954 and whose members are nicknamed “Moonies” after its founder Sun Myung Moon. The Church has been accused of fomenting child neglect among its members and financially exploiting them, claims it denies.
Yamagami was said to have held a grudge against the Church for bankrupting his family after his mother donated around 100 million yen ($ million at the time) as proof of her fa
Investigations after Abe’s murder led to cascading revelations about close ties between the Church and many conservative lawmakers in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, prompting four ministers to resign.
Earlier this year, the Tokyo District Court issued a dissolution order for the Church’s Japanese arm, saying it caused “unprecedented damage” to society.
The assassination was also a wake-up call for a nation with some of the world’s strictest gun controls.
Gun violence is so rare in Japan that security officials at the scene failed to immediately identify the sound made by the first shot, and came to Abe’s rescue too late, a police report after the attack said.
The debacle prompted lawmakers to pass a bill in 2024 further strengthening arms controls to prevent people from making homemade guns.
Under the new rules, uploading tutorial videos on making firearms and propagating information about gun sales on social media can result in a fine or imprisonment of under one year.

Wizkid: Yhemo Lee Reacts As Singer’s First Son Boluwatife Previews Debut Song, “Retirement Plan

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has said the defamation charges it filed against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan were in order because her conduct and actions against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello contravened the penal code.
The AGF stated this in response to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s preliminary objection to three counts bordering on harmful imputation and defamation filed against her.
The charges stemmed from complaints by Akpabio and Bello, referencing the senator’s allegation of an assassination attempt.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was arraigned on June 19 before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, where she pleaded not guilty.
She subsequently filed a preliminary objection, urging the court to dismiss the charges against her.
On Monday, Justice Chizoba Oji adjourned till December 1 to hear the preliminary objection after the prosecuting counsel, David Kaswe, informed the court that although the matter was scheduled for the hearing of the objection, the prosecution had been unable to serve its response on the defence.
In a counter-affidavit filed by the AGF’s office, the prosecution urged the court to reject Akpoti-Uduaghan’s preliminary objection.
The prosecution stated, “The three counts were preferred against the defendant pursuant to the Penal Code Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and in the bona fide exercise of the prosecutorial powers of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation, as guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), and in the best interest of justice.
“The actions and conduct of the defendant/applicant contravened
the Penal Code Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The criminal charge against the defendant arose from the comprehensive and conclusive investigation of the case, including all petitions and parties involved, by the Nigeria Police Force.
“All the petitions filed by the defendant were duly investigated, and charges were filed at the FCT High Court against her colleague, a senator.
“The Office of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation filed the criminal charge against the defendant after due consideration of the public interest, the interest of justice, and
the need to prevent abuse of legal process.
In the charge marked FCT/HC/CR/297/25, Akpoti-Uduaghan was accused of making harmful imputations that she allegedly knew would damage the reputation of Akpabio by claiming that he conspired with former governor Bello to kill her.
She was further accused of making similar imputations against Bello and another against Akpabio, allegedly linking him to the death of Miss Iniobong Umoren.
At the last sitting on September 23, defence counsel, Ehighioge West-Idahosa (SAN), informed the court that the defendant had filed a notice of preliminary objection, arguing that the Office of the Attorney-General had abused its prosecutorial powers.
According to him, the objection did not contest the substance of the charges but challenged their validity, describing it as a “threshold jurisdictional matter.”
He added that the preliminary objection had been served on the AGF’s office
on September 18, but no response had been received.
At Monday’s resumed hearing, Kaswe explained to the court that the address where the prosecution’s counter-affidavit was served did not belong to any of the defence counsel, and he requested a short adjournment to enable proper service.
“It would not be fair for the prosecution to insist that the matter proceed when the defence team has indicated its intention to respond to our counter,” Kaswe said. “We are, therefore, asking for a short
adjournment to enable us to effect proper service.”
Responding, West-Idahosa confirmed that the defence had not received the prosecution’s response, noting that none of the defendant’s lawyers had been served.
The prosecution’s counter was not served on any of the defence lawyers. We intend to respond when we are properly served, as we have additional evidence to file,” the senior advocate stated.
He also appealed to the court to grant a long adjournment, explaining that members of the defence team planned to attend this year’s International Bar Association Conference in Canada.
After listening to both parties, Justice Oji adjourned the hearing of the preliminary objection to December 1.

The Nigeria Police Force has explained the reasons behind the transfer of human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to Kuje Prison shortly after he was granted bail by the Kuje Magistrate Court in Abuja on Friday.
Sowore was initially arrested by the police on Thursday on charges bordering on incitement and alleged breach of public peace.
His arrest followed his organisation of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest on Monday, despite prior warnings from the police.
He was subsequently arraigned alongside 12 others before the Kuje Magistrate Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court granted bail to Sowore with N500,000 and two sureties, which his legal team was working to perfect at the time of the police action.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja shortly after the incident, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, accused the police of violently attacking and removing Sowore moments after his bail was granted.
Adeyanju alleged that more than 50 armed officers stormed the court premises, descended on Sowore, and took him away by force while refusing to present a valid remand order.
Sowore had just been granted bail, and while we were conferring with him here, the police suddenly launched an attack. More than 50 officers violently descended on him and took him away by force. We don’t even know where they have taken him,” he said.
He said the officer who led the operation briefly displayed what he claimed was a remand order but refused to allow Sowore’s lawyers to inspect it.
Adeyanju said, “The officer flashed the document, and when we insisted on reviewing it, he pocketed it and ordered that they must go. When we asked where they were taking him, he said Kuje Prison. We demanded to see the remand order as endorsed by the court, but he refused.”
He further alleged that during the scuffle, the police accused Sowore of insulting the Inspector General of Police, saying, “Because Sowore called the IG useless, they must deal with him.”
The lawyer said the officers tore Sowore’s shirt during the confrontation and dragged him away even as his legal team was still perfecting his bail conditions.
However, while responding to Sowore’s re-arrest via X (formerly Twitter), the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police acted within the law, adding that officers were empowered to use commensurate force to carry out their duties.
Hundeyin, who attached a remand warrant to his post, wrote, “Except we want to be mischievous, we all know that once court grants a suspect bail, it comes with the caveat that until the bail conditions are met, the suspect remains in custody.
Where it is clearly spelt out on the remand warrant that the suspect be remanded in a correctional facility, not police custody, it is the duty of the police to hand over the suspect to the Nigeria Correctional Service, who would then process his bail conditions.
“This has always been the practice. Why should this be different? Also, as law enforcement officers, we are empowered by law to employ commensurate force to get our mandate achieved.”

Singer, Seyi Shay, tells KEHINDE AJOSE about her artistic evolution, relationship with Tiwa Savage, and other issues
You’ve been in the music industry for over a decade. Looking back, what are the moments you are most proud of in your career?
I am proud of my resilience and consistency. Every stage of my journey — from performing with From Above to releasing hit records in Nigeria and touring globally — has been proof of grace, growth, and hard work. My story hasn’t been a straight line, but every detour and challenge has refined me. Highlights such as representing global brands as an ambassador, performing on major international stages, and connecting with diverse audiences across continents
remind me of how far I’ve come. Each phase of my career has been a learning curve and a blessing. More than the accolades, I’m proud of my endurance; the fact that I’m still here, evolving, and staying true to my voice.
How would you describe your evolution as an artiste?
have evolved from being purely a performer to becoming a storyteller and, beyond that, a woman of purpose. When I started out, it was mostly about the performance — the choreography, energy, and glamour. But over the years, my art has become a vessel for expression and healing. My sound, message, and outlook on life have matured significantly. I now create from a place of peace, intention, and truth; rather than pressure or the need for validation. My songs now reflect my experiences and emotions more deeply. They come from a genuine place of understanding who I am, and what I want to say to the world
What were the biggest lessons you learnt when you were away from the industry?
I learnt that rest is not a setback. In a fast-paced industry like ours, it’s easy to feel like taking a break means falling behind, but I discovered that rest is part of the journey. Personally, I learnt patience, faith, and the importance of alignment; being in tune with God, myself, and my purpose. Professionally, I realised that longevity comes from reinvention, not repetition. The time I took away from the spotlight helped me reassess what truly matters and reminded me why I started doing music in the first place. That clarity renewed my creativity and gave me a healthier relationship with success
That clarity renewed my creativity and gave me a healthier relationship with success.
How has being in the spotlight shaped your perspective on people, loyalty, and self-worth?
Being in the spotlight has taught me to value authenticity above everything else. Fame magnifies everything — the good and the not-so-good — so you have to be grounded in who you are. I’ve learnt to define my worth outside of public opinion because if you let the praise define you, the criticism will destroy you. Real loyalty,
I’ve come to see, shows up in silence, not just in celebration. It’s easy to support someone when they’re trending, but true loyalty is in the quiet moments, when no one’s watching. The spotlight has also helped me strengthen my boundaries and protect my peace.
What’s your take on the current state of Nigerian pop and RnB music?
I’m incredibly proud of where Nigerian music is today. It has become a global force and continues to break new barriers. The world is finally catching up to what we’ve always known, that Nigerian artistes are some of the most talented and hardworking people on the planet. However, I would love to see RnB get more love again. Afrobeats has opened many doors, but there’s still room for other genres to shine. There’s beauty in variety— in soulful, intentional music that connects on a deeper
level. I believe listeners are beginning to crave that balance again, and it’s exciting to be part of that shift.
How do you navigate industry politics, especially as a woman in a competitive space where perception often shapes opportunity?
I navigate that by staying grounded in my purpose. You can’t control what people say or how they perceive you, but you can control your actions, attitude, and energy. I’ve learnt to focus on my craft and let my work speak louder than gossip or politics. The truth is, in this industry, perception can sometimes outweigh reality, but consistency always wins in the long run. As a woman, you have to stand firm, know your worth, and refuse to let others define your narrative.
Tiwa Savage recently denied ever blocking other women’s opportunities and mentioned that you replaced her on a Pepsi campaign while she was pregnant. How do you respond to that?
That period was purely a brand decision, not a personal one. I have never had any reason to celebrate another woman’s challenge or misfortune. I respect Tiwa’s journey deeply. She’s an incredible artiste and a trailblazer. There’s no bad blood on my end; only respect and acknowledgment of her contribution to the industry. Sometimes, people like to create tension where there’s none, but I prefer to keep my energy positive and professional. Absolutely. We were both under pressure and navigating a very competitive industry. When emotions run high, it’s easy to miscommunicate or react defensively. Time and maturity have given both of us a clearer perspective. If I could go back, I would choose communication over confrontation. That’s the beauty of growth; you look back and see how much you’ve learnt.
Tiwa said she is open to a conversation to clear the air. Would you be willing to sit with her to address this?
Yes, I would. Life is too short for lingering tension. If having that conversation helps heal narratives and sets a better example for women in music, I’m open to it, whether privately or publicly. I believe that reconciliation and mutual respect are powerful. We’ve both come a long way, and I think there’s strength in showing that women can rise above old narratives
