BAUCHI (PRECISE POST) – morning downpour turned deadly in Kirfi on Wednesday when fierce rain and wind tore through Bara Village, killing a 50-year-old woman and her four-year-old granddaughter.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the deaths of Aisha Sagir, 50, and her granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, 4, both of Unguwar Katsinawa in Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Wakil Habib said in a statement Wednesday that the storm hit around 10:00 a.m., bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds that destroyed houses, killed livestock, and wiped out valuables worth millions of naira.
Officers from the Kirfi Division visited the scene to assess damage and keep order in the community.
Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed condolences to the bereaved family and Kirfi residents, adding that the command is working with relevant agencies to support disaster response and protect lives and property across the state.
He urged residents to stay alert during the rainy season and report emergencies promptly for quick intervention.
