Bello, Ganduje, El’Rufai’s drama ploy by Tinubu to distract Nigerians from economic hardship – Group Alleges

By Ogechi Okorie

ABUJA – Group under the auspices of Peter Obi Grassroot Mobilisation Movement has ruled out seriousness on the part of the current administration in the fight against corruption, alleging that the unfolding disorder and confusions in the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in cases affecting Ganduje, Ahmed El-Rufai, Yahaya Bello and others may be nothing but President Bola Tinubu’s ploy to distract Nigerians from the present economic hardship and to force the said individuals to his side ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Precise Post recalls that the allegation is coming barely twenty-four hours after Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo obtructed the arrest of his predecessor, former governor Yahaya Bello by the joint team of Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Police Force [NPF) that surrounded his (Bello’s) Wuse residence in Abuja to effect his arrest over financial misappropriation and misapplication.

Shortly after that obstruction, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Yahaya Bello wanted for an alleged financial crime to the tune of N80.2 billion.

The Group made the allegation on Friday in a three paragraph statement via its official X account saying:

“All these complete disorder and confusions ongoing in the camp of APC regarding with Ganduje, El-Rufai, Yahaya Bello, etc maybe nothing but TInubu’s ploy to distract Nigerians from the present economic hardship and to force the said individuals to his side ahead of the 2027 elections.”

“Tinubu wants them to either commit to vowed allegiance to him, or be rendered powerless and political impotent before 2027.”

“Nigerians must be ready to dismantle the current political criminality now is the time and never be distracted at TInubu’s game.”

Precise Post further recalls that the Kaduna State House of Assembly has set up a 13-man ad-hoc committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants and projects executed by Mallam Nasir el-Rufai’s administration.

This followed the revelation of the incumbent governor, Senator Uba Sani on March 30, 2024 in a town hall meeting, that he inherited a huge debt burden of $587million, N85 billion and 115 contractual liabilities from the immediate past government.

Predicated on the above, the House on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024 unanimously agreed to set up the committee for investigation into the former governor Nasir el-Rufai’s administration.

Hon. Yusuf Mugu, member representing Kaura constituency, moved the motion on a matter of public importance that the loan borrowed by the former governor El-Rufai be investigated for people of state to know the conditions used for the loan.

The former speaker of the assembly, Hon. Yusuf Zailani, who also spoke on the issue, said he refused to approve of some of the loans but that the governor still found a way to take them.
Zailani who is also the lawmaker representing Igabi West constituency said: “I suffered a lot in not giving approval for the loans to be collected.

Similarly, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, had threatened to file criminal charges against erstwhile Governor of the state and current Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje over alleged bribery of $413,000 and N1.38billion respectively.

Precise Post also recalls that Yusuf had on the assumption of office in 2023, accused the former governor of misappropriating public funds and allocating plots of land to some members of his immediate family.

However, Ganduje, on Friday, warned Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, to concentrate on bringing good governance to his people instead of embarking on a futile attempt to drag his name in the mud.

Apart from Governor Yusuf, all the others are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peter Obi Grassroot Mobilisation Movement is claiming that these disorders and confusions being created are TInubu’s ploy to distract Nigerians from the present economic hardship and to force the said individuals to his side ahead of the 2027 elections.
