ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osita Chidoka has seized the occasion of the service of songs for late Lt. General Jeremiah T Useni to share a poignant reflection on the mentorship he received from the late General, revealing how it shaped his career trajectory.

Chidoka, now a prominent figure and former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), recalled Useni’s pivotal role in his life.
“I attended the service of songs for Lt. General JT Useni, the man whose actions as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory altered the course of my life,” Chidoka said. He shared how Useni, who was instrumental in his early career, served as his first “okeite”—a term used to describe an influential figure or mentor. Chidoka went on to explain that Useni’s guidance helped propel him to achieve the significant milestone of becoming Corps Marshal at the age of 35, a decade after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) days, succeeding General Hannaniya, Useni’s senior in the Army.
Chidoka emphasized that his success was not by chance, but the result of careful preparation aligning with the right opportunity. “I will tell this story to remind our young people that the only ‘Okeite’ and ‘Ibobo’ that work are those where preparation meets opportunity,” he remarked.
He however highlighted the full story, he assured the audience, would be shared the following day, offering further insights into his remarkable journey and the lasting impact of General Useni’s mentorship on his career.
