ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowere, has disclosed that a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his remand in Kuje Correctional Centre following what he described as his only absence from court since the commencement of his ongoing trial.
According to Sowore, Justice M.G. Umar issued the remand order despite being informed that his absence was due to consultations with his new legal team led by prominent lawyer Olumide-Fusika (SAN).
Sowore stated that his counsel had duly explained to the court that he was away solely to confer with the legal team regarding the case. However, he said the judge proceeded with the remand order.
Reacting to the development, the activist maintained that he was unperturbed by the court’s decision, insisting that imprisonment would not deter him from pursuing what he described as a just cause.
He further called on Nigerians and supporters of his movement to remain steadfast in their pursuit of what he termed a genuine revolution aimed at ending oppression, injustice and bad governance in the country.
“The struggle continues. Victory is certain,” Sowore declared, while reaffirming his commitment to the #RevolutionNow movement and his political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections.
