COVID-19: Eze Adikwu Announces Closure of Umuosu Umunna Nsulu Daily Market, Other Public Gatherings

Umuahia (Precise Post) – His Royal Majesty Eze Ik Adikwu, has announced the closure of Umuosu Umunna Nsulu daily market (a. k. a Ahia Umuosu) in compliance with the public gathering ban directive by the state governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as part of measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also announced the closure of other public gatherings including including schools, markets, burials or any social/
religious gatherings.

Eze Ik Adikwu disclosed this on Friday in a statement signed by the President General, Umuosu Youth Developement Forum, Mr. Osisiogu Edward I, made available to Precise Post.

The statement reads in full:

This is to inform the general public of Umuosu umunna nsulu, with emphasis on the youth/women; that after careful deliberations by His Royal Majesty Eze Ik Adikwu, the udoala palace chiefs in conjunction with the Umunna asato(8) village heads, women leaders, youth leaders emerged from a crucial meeting on Thursday 23rd April 2020 and after deliberating on issues of importance concerning the directives by the state governor on the Covid-19 and closure of public gathering including schools, markets, burials or any social/
religious gatherings.

The following conclusion were reached:-

(1) That all burial ceremonies in the community is hereby prohibited.

(2) All shop owners are to maintain social distance by attending to 2/3 population of the size of the business at a time and provide hand sanitizers in their shops especially those of food vendors.

(3)That the umuosu umunna nsulu daily market will not be open for trading this Saturday and other Saturdays until further directives from the state government.

(4)That the youths and the local neighborhood watch (Vigilante) are to enforce the government directives on social distancing, maintain stay-at-home order, block all borders that leads to umuosu market.

The Congress wishes to appeal to all and sundry to maintain and adhere to all medical advice on the issues of the Covid-19 for our own sake, wishing that this pandemic will soon be over.

However, we must not allow strangers into our community and any unknown face should be reported to the village head and other constituted authorities. Stay at home, stay safe, obey healthy tips, please share this information and those of you outside the community please call your loved ones to tell them Corona is real and advice them to stay at home, we don’t want to lose anyone because of this pandemic.
