ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu over his recent comments comparing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to late military ruler Sani Abacha.
Fani-Kayode described the comparison as “worrisome,” suggesting it reflected what he termed a “degenerating level of cognitive dissonance.” He, however, noted that he still holds personal affection and respect for Momodu, whom he referred to as a brother.
Reacting on Monday on his Facebook page shortly after Momodu’s interview on Channels Television, Fani-Kayode said the publisher appeared “drained” and advised him to take a break from political commentary to regain clarity.
He also accused Momodu of being disrespectful in his remarks about the President, Vice President, and other top government officials, adding that such comments undermined public intelligence.
The former minister further took aim at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging the party and its members to focus on rebuilding and strengthening their ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections rather than criticising the ruling party.
He described the ADC as weak and unprepared for serious political competition, using metaphors to portray the party as lacking structure, leadership, and direction. According to him, the party has yet to establish itself as a credible opposition force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Fani-Kayode also dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is under pressure, arguing that increasing support for the party is due to what he called the performance of the Tinubu administration and the perceived failure of opposition groups to present viable alternatives.
While criticising the ADC, he maintained that its struggles were self-inflicted and not the result of actions by the current administration. He further alleged that many Nigerians view the opposition as lacking direction and credibility.
In a personal appeal, Fani-Kayode urged Momodu to reconsider his political alignment, suggesting that he was out of place within the ADC and capable of making more constructive contributions elsewhere.
He concluded by expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that the administration would ultimately succeed and end its tenure on a positive note.
