Abuja (Precise Post) — Nigeria is seeking deeper financial and technical collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as it moves to transition from economic stabilisation to sustained, broad-based growth.
The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, held a strategic partnership meeting with senior officials of the EBRD on February 19, 2026.
The meeting is aimed at strengthening cooperation and unlocking fresh investment into priority sectors of the Nigerian economy, the statement released on the official X account handle of the Federal Ministry of Finance @FinMinFinance on Friday said.
According to the Ministry, discussions at the meeting centred on how the EBRD could accelerate Nigeria’s economic expansion through targeted investments in agriculture and agro-processing, power and energy, as well as telecommunications and digital infrastructure.
Officials noted that these sectors remain pivotal to boosting productivity, enhancing food security, expanding access to reliable electricity, and driving digital transformation, all key pillars of Nigeria’s long-term development agenda.

Edun emphasised that Nigeria has laid critical foundations through macroeconomic reforms and stabilisation measures, and is now focused on converting those gains into inclusive and sustained economic growth.
“With the right blend of capital, technical expertise, and policy alignment, the EBRD can partner with Nigeria in turning growing potential into productivity, and reforms into real economic gains,” the minister said.
The engagement underscores the Federal Government’s strategy of leveraging international development finance institutions to crowd in private capital, deepen structural reforms, and fast-track economic diversification.
Analysts say enhanced collaboration with multilateral partners like the EBRD could provide not only funding but also technical advisory support to strengthen institutional capacity and improve project execution across critical sectors.
Precise Post recalls that the meeting marks another step in Nigeria’s push to build resilient growth anchored on investment, innovation, and strategic global partnerships.
