UMUAHIA- Gov. Alex Otti of Abia has felicitated the Muslim faithful in the country, urging them to embrace virtues that respect the human dignity and also promote peace, national unity and security.
Otti made the exhortation in a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, and made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Friday.
He described the Eid-el-Fitr celebration as “not only a time of joy but also a period for deep reflection on the spiritual significance of the season”.
He urged Muslim adherents across the country and the world at large “to use the occasion to renew their faith and strengthen their relationship with Allah”.
According to the governor, fairness and equality among the various religions remain key to peaceful coexistence in the state.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to treating all religious organisations and groups fairly and equally.
He wished the Muslim community in the state an exciting celebration and prayed for brighter and more prosperous days ahead for the state and the country. (NAN)
