Enugu Sets Bold Agricultural and Investment Agenda, Partners with Denmark

ENUGU (PRECISE POST) – Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has informed that the state is taking a significant leap forward in agricultural development and investment, with plans for a tractor procurement partnership with Denmark’s ODK Group and the establishment of a local assembly plant in the state.

Governor Mbah stated this after receiving the Consul General of the Royal Danish Embassy in Nigeria, Jette Bjerrum, along with a delegation of Danish government and business leaders in Government House Enugu on Monday.

Mbah who disclosed this when he took to his X handle account, stated that this move is just the beginning of a broader vision to strengthen Enugu’s agricultural economy, which currently contributes 40% to Nigeria’s GDP.

“The meeting underscored Denmark’s keen interest in various sectors in Enugu, including Smart Schools, agricultural value chains, waste-to-energy projects, logistics, airport expansion, and healthcare initiatives,” Mbah said.

The Danish delegation expressed enthusiasm for Enugu’s strategic vision, which aligns with the state’s commitment to de-risking investments and creating a business-friendly environment. With over 300,000 hectares secured in the state’s land bank and the rollout of the Farm Estate initiative across all 260 electoral wards, Enugu is on track to grow its economy to $30 billion in the next six years.

The state is also expanding its agricultural sector with a $20 million investment in livestock. Plans are underway for a modern ranch capable of housing over 20,000 cows, while Special Agro-Processing Zones are being developed to provide manufacturers with access to essential infrastructure.

Governor Mbah emphasized that Denmark’s recognition of Enugu as a rapidly developing opportunity hub is a testament to the state’s growing potential. Enugu welcomes more investors who share the commitment to accountability, inclusivity, and innovation.

“Tomorrow is Here!” the Governor concluded, signaling the start of an exciting new era for Enugu’s economy.
