….As Varsity begins operations in the 2025/2026 academic year

ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The establishment of Federal University of Science and Technology, Kachia, in Southern Kaduna State aligns with the President Bola Tinubu’s goal of expanding tertiary education infrastructure to accommodate the growing youth population, enhance human capital development, and bolster the country’s research and innovation capacity.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa stated this on Tuesday when he took to his X account handle shortly after it was officially established as the Federal University of Science and Technology, also hinted that the University will begin operations in the 2025/2026 academic year, with initial programs focused on Applied Sciences, Medicine, Physical Sciences, and Engineering.
Precise Post recalls that earlier on Tuesday, the Government of Kaduna @kaduna, officially handed over Nok University, Kachia, Kaduna State to the Federal 0Government of Nigeria.

According to the Minister, efforts are already underway to secure accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the principal officers of the university will be announced soon.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and His Excellency Vice President Sen. Kashima Shettima, GCON, for facilitating this transfer of ownership, ensuring the university receives adequate funding and infrastructure support to maintain academic excellence.

The Minister also extended gratitude to Sen. Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna @GovKaduna; Sen. Sunday Katung representing Kaduna South senatorial district; Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman, of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for their full cooperation in ensuring the seamless transition and sustainable operations of the university.

He expressed confident that the University will create job opportunities for the residents and communities in Southern Kaduna and the state at large, attract investments, and reduce educational disparities in the state.
