ABUJA- Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has opened up following allegations that his government was controlled by cabals.
Reacting, Buhari said the claim is untrue.
Buhari disclosed this during his first interview since leaving office on May 29, 2023, with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).
NTA released the 1 hour 42 minute interview teaser on its X handle (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday.
Recall that Buhari had stated that he did not miss the presidency.
When asked about what he misses from his time in office, he responded, “Miss? Oh dear me, I don’t think I miss much.”
Speaking on his diplomatic relationships when in power, he said, “I am so preoccupied with the local problems that I hardly think about the external problems.”
In his take on the claims that cabals hijacked his government or it was the imaginations of Nigerians, the former president replied, “It must have been (imagination).”
Muhammadu Buhari had, in December 2022, expressed his desperation to leave office and return to his village.
He had said he was eager to leave office and return to his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State, after handing over power to whoever emerges as the next president in the 2023 election.
Buhari, however, said when he leaves office on May 29, 2023, he will stay away from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, to avoid problems.
