Lagos – An applicant, Deborah Nwachukwu, 23, who allegedly stole a car and phones worth N2.6million, on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Nwachukwu, whose address was not provided in court, was charged with stealing and breach of peace, to which she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Nwachukwu committed the offence on Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at No. 9, Abiola Crescent off Toyin St., Ikeja.

Emuerhi alleged that the defendant stole the car belonging to the complainant, Mr Patrick Inoma,  valued at N2 million and two Samsung phones worth N600,000.

He alleged that Nwachukwu entered the complainant’s house and stole the items and conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by unlawfully locking up the complainant in his room.

The offence, he said, contravened the  provisions of sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Sule-Amzat, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Dec. 5.(NAN)
