ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – In its quest to strengthen Nigeria’s higher education sector, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, has officially inaugurated the Governing Councils and Principal Officers for two newly established federal universities – Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Oyo State and Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State
Also inaugurated were the Pro-Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, and the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Kano.
According to the statement released on the X account of the Ministet of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the ceremony, which held today (Thursday), was presided over by the Honourable Minister of Education himself alongside the Honourable Minister of State, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.
Extending warm congratulations to all newly appointed Chairmen, Pro-Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Principal Officers, and Council Members, the Minister emphasized the historic significance of the appointments and the critical roles they must now play in nation-building.
“This is a great honour, but it also comes with a weighty responsibility,” the Minister said. “You have been entrusted with shaping the future of these institutions, ensuring they deliver world-class teaching, cutting-edge research, and impactful community service.”
The Minister reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to the #RenewedHope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which seeks to transform Nigeria from a resource-based economy into a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation, research, and skilled manpower.
“Nigeria’s universities must not only train graduates, but nurture innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders who will contribute to national development,” the Minister added.
The inauguration marks another key milestone in the government’s agenda to reposition the education sector as a cornerstone of national progress and global competitiveness.
