ABUJA (PRECISE POST)   –   United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has made a clarion call for a global transition away from fossil fuels, declaring that the current energy system(fossil) is “flailing and failing.”

In a tweet released on his X handle on Tuesday underscoring the urgency of climate action, Guterres said the world stands at the threshold of a new era—one powered by clean, renewable, and affordable energy.

“We’re at the dawn of a new and clean energy era,” he stated, highlighting the economic and environmental opportunities that lie ahead.

“The fossil fuel age is flailing and failing,” Guterres declared, urging world leaders, industries, and citizens to seize the momentum.

“We have the tools to power the future for humanity,” he added. “This is our moment of opportunity.”

Precise Post recalls that the Secretary-General’s remarks come amid increasing calls from scientists and activists to phase out coal, oil, and gas to meet international climate goals.

Guterres has been a consistent voice advocating for renewable energy investment, emphasizing the need for immediate action to secure a sustainable future.
