WASHINGTON (PRECISE POST) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the explosion targeting a passenger train in Pakistan, describing the attack as unacceptable and calling for those responsible to be swiftly brought to justice.
In a statement issued on his X handle on Tuesday following the incident, Guterres expressed deep concern over the attack, reiterating the United Nations’ firm stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
“I strongly condemn the explosion targeting a train in Pakistan. Terrorism in all its forms is unacceptable,” the UN chief stated.
He stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging authorities to identify the perpetrators and ensure accountability.
“The perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice,” he added.
Although details surrounding the explosion were still emerging at the time of his statement, the attack has sparked renewed concerns over security challenges and militant violence in parts of Pakistan. Emergency responders and security agencies were reportedly deployed to the scene as authorities commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the blast.
Precise Post recalls that Guterres also conveyed the solidarity of the United Nations with both the people and government of Pakistan during the difficult period.
“The United Nations stands in solidarity with the people and the Government of Pakistan,” he said.
