Abuja (Precise Post) – Terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram members have shot down a helicopter in Borno State. The chopper belongs to the Nigerien government. The incident occurred on Tuesday near Banki, Daily Trust reports. The town is located in Bama, a local government area frequently terrorised by Boko Haram. Five persons are reportedly dead. The total number of passengers in the aircraft is not known yet.
This is coming barely one week after the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume expressed sadness over the absorption of so-called repentant Boko Haram members into the Nigerian Army by the federal government.
Senator Ndume recounted how 75 mallams above 60 years were taken to abbatoir and slaughtered by Boko Haram and because they said they have repented you pamper them.
Precise Post recalls that former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has alleged that military helicopter was shot down in Borno state by Boko Haram killing 5.
Fani-Kayode who made the allegation when he took to his twitter handle, also said that 12 Police Officers (ASP’s) were kidnapped on their way from Borno state to Zamfara.
