Military Jet Crash: Buhari says Attahiru, others paid ultimate price for peace, security

ABUJA – Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has has reacted to the air crash that claimed the lives of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other military officers, sayings they have paid the ultimate price for peace and security.

Buhari expressed deep anguish in a statement released by the presidential media adviser, Femi Adesina, on Friday shortly after the incidence.

According to the statement, the President condoled with families of the deceased, the military, and Nigerians in general, describing them as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land.”

While praying that God receives the souls of the patriots, the President says the crash “is one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a time our armed forces are poised to end the security challenges facing the country.”

The President pledged that the departed would not die in vain.

Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru was appointed Chief of Army Staff in January this year following the resignation of the erstwhile Army Chief, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, alongside other Service Chiefs.
