IBADAN – A mine worker, Kabir Oloyede, 35, was arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s court, Ibadan, on Monday for allegedly stealing precious stone worth N913, 948, 800.
The defendant, whose adderess was not diclosed was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Mrs B. K. Olookooba alleged that the defendant and others at large, between January 2025 and February conspired together to commit the offence.
Olookooba alleged that the defendant stole 1,600 metric tonnes of Lithium stone valued at N913, 948, 800, property of Badger Mining Nigeria Limited, Warehouse, Otu, Oyo State.
She said the offence contravened the provisions of section 383 and punishable under section 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
Defence Counsel, Mr. A. Olayiwola asked for the defendant’s bail on liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million, with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said the two sureties must be building property owners in the highbrow area of Ibadan, with Certificate of Occupancy, while one of them should also be blood relative to the defendant.
She adjourned the matter until July 8, for hearing. (NAN)
