AWKA (PRECISE POST) – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what it described as the alleged uploading and publication of unauthorised names as candidates of the party in various constituencies.
The party, in a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, said the alleged irregularity was particularly pronounced in the Anambra State House of Assembly, the home state of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to the NDC, 10 names that were neither known to nor authorised by the party were uploaded and published by INEC as its candidates for various constituencies in the state.
The party alleged that the names were not submitted to INEC by the NDC in accordance with the law.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, totally condemns the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its officials over the uploading and publication of unauthorised names in various constituencies,” the party said.
The NDC maintained that the affected names were “unknown to the party,” adding that they were not authorised or submitted by the party to the electoral commission as its candidates.
It specifically raised concern over the situation in Anambra State, describing the development as particularly troubling given that the state is the home state of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Precise Post recalls thar the party’s allegation comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties expected to submit and validate their candidates in accordance with electoral laws and INEC guidelines.
