ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to inaugurate a 21-member Selection Committee as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
The party disclosed this on Monday in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., following the successful completion of the screening exercise for governorship, National Assembly, and State Houses of Assembly aspirants.
According to the statement, the inauguration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the NDC National Secretariat by 4:00 p.m.
The committee, constituted last week, is expected to review and deliberate on the reports and recommendations submitted by the National Screening Committee as well as the various State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees.
The party said the committee’s mandate includes scrutinising the screening outcomes of all aspirants and taking appropriate decisions in line with the party’s commitment to transparency, internal democracy, and credible candidate selection.
The Selection Committee will be chaired by the NDC National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe while Dickson is also expected to formally inaugurate the committee during the ceremony.
The statement further noted that the committee was established at the instance of the NDC National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, in collaboration with recommendations from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
According to the party, the initiative is aimed at ensuring that the NDC fields “the most formidable candidate for every position” in the upcoming elections.
