Kano – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has selected 2, 200 persons for training in various trades under its women and youth empowerment programme in Kano state.
Malam Ilyasu Ahmad, the state NDE Coordinator, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Kano.
He said the beneficiaries would be trained under the agency’s vocational skill development department.
According to him, 50 beneficiaries were selected from each of the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to undergo the training in various skills acquisition.
He said 20 women had been selected to be trained on cosmetology while 30 other beneficiaries would undergo training on other trades selected by the directorate.
He said under the special Public Works Department, a total of 60 beneficiaries would be trained on Environmental Beautification Scheme, while 50 graduates were selected to be trained under the Graduates Attachment Programme.
He said the directorate would continue to support government in its efforts to tackle the problem of unemployment especially among women and youths. (NAN)
