ABUJA (PRECISE POST)   –  In a major stride towards enhancing operational efficiency and modernizing port operations, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the successful deployment of Electronic Barrier Systems across all terminal access points within the Lagos Port Complex (LPC).

The initiative, spearheaded by NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, aims to improve traffic management, eliminate unauthorized truck diversions, and boost terminal productivity. The move follows extensive consultations with key port stakeholders and forms part of broader efforts to digitize and streamline logistics operations within the port environment.

According to the NPA, the newly installed barriers are fully integrated with the Eto Electronic Call-Up System, managed by Trucks Transit Parks Ltd (TTP). With this integration, only trucks with valid, Eto-issued call-up tickets will be granted entry into the terminals, ensuring transparency, reducing congestion, and reinforcing gate control operations.

The NPA confirmed that full live operations using the integrated system officially commenced on Monday, September 1, 2025, across all terminals at the Lagos Port Complex.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business agenda, promoting transparency, and strengthening the efficiency of port logistics,” the Authority said in a statement.

The NPA expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their cooperation and reaffirmed its dedication to deploying innovative, technology-driven solutions that support a more secure, efficient, and business-friendly port ecosystem.

This latest development also aligns with NPA’s long-term vision of transforming Nigeria into a leading maritime logistics hub in Africa through sustainable port services and infrastructure modernization.
