ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcominhg 2027 election, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed the need for stronger international partnerships to accelerate Nigeria’s development, with a focus on improving education, healthcare and reducing poverty across the country.
Obi made this known on Wednesday in a post on his official X account after meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Egloff, describing their discussions as productive and centred on Nigeria’s developmental priorities.
According to the former Anambra State governor, the meeting focused on the country’s development trajectory, with particular emphasis on sectors he described as critical drivers of national progress.
He identified education, healthcare and poverty reduction as key areas requiring sustained attention and collaboration to improve the lives of Nigerians.
Obi also commended the Swiss Confederation for its longstanding support to Nigeria, expressing appreciation for its contributions to economic development, cultural exchanges, humanitarian interventions and peace-building initiatives.
He particularly acknowledged Switzerland’s role in supporting humanitarian and peace efforts in Nigeria’s North-East, a region that has faced years of insecurity and humanitarian challenges.
The former presidential candidate stressed that deepening partnerships built on shared values and a common commitment to human development would be vital to achieving sustainable growth and national prosperity.
According to him, stronger collaboration between Nigeria and development partners would help create a more inclusive society where citizens have greater access to quality education, healthcare and economic opportunities.
