ABUJA (PRECISE POST) -Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has resolved the industrial dispute at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, leading to the suspension of the ongoing strike by workers and setting in motion measures to restore electricity and improve healthcare services at the facility.
According to the statement released on the official X handle of Delta State Government, the breakthrough followed a closed-door meeting chaired by the governor on Monday at the Government House in Asaba, where key stakeholders discussed the issues that had triggered the industrial action.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chief Medical Director of DELSUTH, Harrison Abedi, confirmed that Governor Oborevwori’s intervention successfully addressed the concerns raised by the workers, paving the way for the suspension of the strike.
Abedi also disclosed that work has already commenced to restore electricity to the hospital through a dedicated 33KVA power line, a move expected to significantly improve service delivery and ensure uninterrupted healthcare operations.
In addition to resolving the labour dispute, Governor Oborevwori directed immediate steps to revamp the hospital and restore stable power supply, underscoring his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
Precise Post recalls that the resolution is expected to bring normal medical services back to the teaching hospital and ease the burden on patients who had been affected by the industrial action.
