ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to urgently release all outstanding results from the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, warning that delays could undermine public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
In a strongly worded statement issued following the elections, Turaki expressed concern over what he described as disturbing delays in the announcement of results in several areas. He cautioned the electoral body against allowing itself to be influenced by the All Progressives Congress, insisting that the commission must uphold the will of voters.
He described the elections as a critical test of the leadership of Joash Amupitan, stressing that the commission bears both constitutional and moral responsibility to conduct transparent and credible polls.
Turaki singled out Kuje Area Council as a major source of concern, alleging that results from polling units indicate victory for the PDP candidate but have yet to be officially declared. He argued that there is no justification for withholding the council’s final results and urged the electoral body to announce them without delay.
He further called for the immediate release of all pending results from wards and area councils across the FCT, warning that any attempt to delay or manipulate outcomes would erode public trust and threaten democratic stability.
Turaki emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy depends on the integrity, independence, and courage of electoral institutions, urging the commission to respect the votes of citizens and uphold the sanctity of the electoral process without fear or favour.
