ABUJA – Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 general election, Peter Obi has commended the Management and Staff of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State for maintaining an admirable standard of education which was evident in their last UTME results, where 85 out of 89 candidates scored over 300 in the exam.

Obi gave the commendation on Sunday (today) while delivering a Keynote address at the 6th Graduation Ceremony of the school.

The two term governor of Anambra state also encouraged the graduating students who were going into the wider world to either continue their educational pursuits or to face other productive endeavours.

Obi who shared the story of his journey to success with the students, urged them to remain productive wherever they subsequently find themselves, and not be fixated on material gains.

He added that; “With our nation continually losing its conscience to corruption and insensitivity to the plight of the masses, we need a new generation of competent leaders with proven character, compassion and commitment to society’s progress.

Disclosing this in a statement released via his X account, Obi said:

“Today, I delivered a Keynote address at the 6th Graduation Ceremony of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State where I took time to encourage the graduating students who were going into the wider world to either continue their educational pursuits or to face other productive endeavours.”

“As always, I was glad to interact with the young students whose future we must invest in through our investment in this very critical measure of development – education.”

“Our nation today is underdeveloped because we have not invested sufficiently in education.”

“In encouraging the students, I shared my journey to success with them and urged them to remain productive wherever they subsequently find themselves, and not be fixated on material gains.”

“As future leaders of our society, they must appreciate the education they have received so far and then become change agents in society.”

“On the College’s Vision – To Form Men and Women of Conscience, Competence, Compassion and Commitment, I added my voice in support.”

“With our nation continually losing its conscience to corruption and insensitivity to the plight of the masses, we need a new generation of competent leaders with proven character, compassion and commitment to society’s progress.”

“Nigeria remains a blessed country, rich in human and natural resources, but only suffering from leadership failure. We, therefore, look forward to young ones like the graduating students, to leverage their education in learning and character, to cause a positive transformation of the nation.”

“I thank the Management and Staff of the College for maintaining an admirable standard of education which was evident in their last UTME results, where 85 out of 89 candidates scored over 300 in the exam.”

“Through our support and investment in education, we will build a New Nigeria that will work for all”. -PO
