Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 general election, Peter Obi on Saturday (today) sent condolence messages to the families of former Governor of Rivers State, Celestine Omehia over the death of their mother and the families of Osuji over the demise of the former Minister of Education, Prof Fabian Osuji.
In a statement conveying the message of condolence to the two families, released via his verified X account @PeterObi, extoled the virtues and legacies of the two late icons in their respective rights, prayed God Almighty who called Ezinne Cecilia Omehia and Prof Fabian Osuji home, grant them eternal rest, and also the entire Omehia and Osuji families, and all of us, the fortitude to bear their irreplaceable loss.
According to the statement, Peter Obi who attended the burials in Rivers and Imo states respectively, urged the two families to uphold the good legacies their mother and father left behind.
The statement reads in parts;
“Today, I was in Ubiama, Rivers State, where I joined Former Governor of Rivers State and my dear elder brother, Celestine Omehia, his friends and associates to pay last respects to his beloved late mother, Ezinne Cecilia Omehia who was buried today.
“I sincerely condoled with him, and the entire Omehia family, over the death of their beloved matriarch. Mama lived a good life and left behind legacies of peace and love. She was a strong disciplinarian, and a devout Christian as is evidenced in the lives of her children.
:From there, I travelled to Mbaise in Imo State to also pay my last respects to the Former Minister of Education, Prof Fabian Osuji, who was laid to rest today. He was an illustrious Nigerian, who contributed immensely to the development of our dear nation, especially in the area of education. I condoled the family and urged them to uphold the good legacies their father left behind. May God Almighty who called Ezinne Cecilia Omehia and Prof Fabian Osuji home, grant them eternal rest, and also the entire Omehia and Osuji families, and all of us, the fortitude to bear their irreplaceable loss.
